Samsung has launched Galaxy Z Fold2 5G as their latest and successor to the first book-like foldable smartphone at its Unpacked event. The Galaxy Z Fold2 has been launched alongside the Galaxy Note 20 Series, Galaxy Buds Live and other Galaxy products. The South Korean tech giant also unveiled its Galaxy Z Flip 5G smartphone recently. The 2nd Gen Galaxy Z Fold comes with a larger secondary display and very fewer bezels around the primary display.

Display and Design
The Galaxy Z Fold2 features a 7.6-inch QXGA+ Dynamic AMOLED 2X primary Infinity-O display with 2208 x 1768 pixels resolution. Surprisingly, the display supports a 120Hz refresh rate and HDR+ certification for high quality streaming on OTT platforms. Unlike the original Galaxy Z Fold, the 2nd Gen Galaxy Z Fold comes with a larger 6.23-inch FHD+ Super AMOLED Infinity-O display with 2260 x 816 pixels resolution.
Describing the design, the book-like handset comes with a glass back and aluminium frame. The camera module is exactly similar to the Galaxy Note 20 that houses triple cameras. Apart from this, the design resembles its predecessor. The Galaxy Z Fold 2 comes in 2 colour options — Mystic Bronze and Mystic Black.
The folding smartphone is powered by octa-core 7nm Qualcomm Snapdragon 865+ chipset integrated with Snapdragon X55 modem, enabling 5G connectivity. Moreover, there is 12GB LPDDR5 RAM and up to 256GB UFS 3.1 internal storage. The handset runs on OneUI 2.1 based on Android 10, in addition, it also comes with Flex Mode. As far as the battery is concerned, there are two battery — 2250mAh battery which means a total of 4500mAh battery. The battery supports 22W fast charging via the USB-C port and also supports 11W wireless as well as reverse charging.
Further, there are a total of five cameras housed in the smartphone that includes a triple camera setup on the back panel, a selfie camera on the cover and another selfie camera accommodated in the primary display. Talking about the rear cameras first, there is a 12MP primary sensor with OIS, Dual Pixel PDAF and f/1.8 aperture along with another 12MP ultra-wide camera and f/2.4 aperture. The third camera comes with a 64MP telephoto lens with 3x hybrid zoom. The selfie cameras both on the cover and inside comes with 10MP sensors each.
Connectivity and Sensor
The smartphone includes Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.1, aptX HD, GPS, USB-C and NFC for specific regions. Besides, the sensor included is a side-mounted fingerprint scanner doubled on the power button, Bixby, accelerometer, proximity, gyro, barometer ANT+, compass and Samsung DeX to offer mini-desktop experience.
Price and Availability
The South Korean giant has not disclosed anything about the phone’s pricing and availability as of now. The smartphone is expected to be priced under $2000, however, Samsung will reveal the details in September.
