The wait is over now! OnePlus has unveiled its 8 series flagship smartphone today at an online event. The 8 series offers OnePlus 8 and OnePlus 8 Pro where the latter is the high-end device. Interestingly, both smartphones come with 5G connectivity. Earlier, 5G debuted in India with Realme and iQOO smartphones. 8 Pro comes with an IP68 rating for water and dust resistance and OnePlus 8 has no official rating.

OnePlus 8 features a 6.55-inch display and the 8 Pro comes with a 6.78-inch display. Both smartphones have Fluid AMOLED panels with a camera cutout at the top-left corner and 3D Corning Gorilla Glass for protection. OnePlus 8 has an FHD+ display resolution (2400 x 1080 pixels) with a 20:9 aspect ratio and a 90Hz refresh rate.
While the Pro model has QHD+ display resolution (3168 x 1440 pixels) with a 19.8:9 aspect ratio and 120Hz refresh rate for a smooth touch.
Processor, RAM, and Storage
Talking about the processor, for both the phones, it is none other than the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 (X55 5G chipset integrated) paired with 8GB and 12GB of LPDDR5 RAM (LPDDR4 in OnePlus 8). Similarly, the 8 series smartphones offer 2-lane UFS 3.0 internal storage of 128GB and 256GB. There is no slot for the MicroSD card to expand storage in both the smartphones.
The handset runs on the latest OxygenOS based on Android 10.
Now let us have a look at the camera department, OnePlus 8 comes with a triple rear-camera setup while the high-end model has a quad-camera setup.
The OnePlus 8 sports a 48MP primary (Sony IMX586) sensor with f/1.8 aperture along with a 16MP secondary camera (Sony IMX 471 sensor)with f/2.2 aperture and a 2MP macro lens with f/2.4 aperture. While there is a 16MP sensor with f/2.4 aperture on the front for selfies.
Whereas, OnePlus 8 Pro has 48MP primary camera with a Sony IMX689 sensor and f/1.78 aperture as well as another 48MP ultra-wide camera with Sony IMX 586 sensor, an 8MP camera with 3x optical zoom and a 5MP camera. The selfie camera is the same as OnePlus 8 i.e. 16MP.
The OnePlus 8 Pro is equipped with a 4,510mAh battery and supports Warp charging 30T which can charge up to 50% in 23minutes. Moreover, there is a 30W wireless charging support which can charge up to 50% in 30mins.
Additionally, it also supports 3W wireless reverse charging.
On the other side, the OnePlus 8 comes with a 4,300mAh battery and 30W Warp charging support via USB Type-C port.
